Where to Go Sledding Around Boston – the Ultimate Guide

It’s no fun for driving, but snow can be great fun! Here are my favorite places to go sledding in New England. Can you suggest others? Please email johnny@eventsinsider.com or tweet me at @OddBostonEvents.

Boston Proper

  • Boston Common has a hill, with the Soldiers & Sailors Monument. Tremont St, Boston, MA
  • Arnold Arboretum, Boston Yet another great location in the Jamaica Plain’s territory. The views of Boston from the two hilltops are outstanding. Peter’s Hill is the best because it has no trees (It’s in the back part of the Arboretum) Also, be sure to go back there in spring to experience nature at its best, with beautiful flowers blooming everywhere. 125 Arborway, Jamaica Plain, MA
  • Puddingstone Park 174 St. Alphonsus St., Boston, MA
  • Hyde Park Boston, MA
  • Dorchester Park 1001 Adams St, Boston, MA
  • Olmsted Park, Jamaica Plain, MA From Rte. 9 south to Perkins Street, just before Jamaica Pond. A prime location for seeing ducks, swans and geese. A great old fashioned style place to slide and enjoy the surroundings. 217 Jamaicaway, Jamaica Plain
  • Marine Park, South Boston Another very popular location for sledding, and you don’t even have to leave the city! Farragut Rd, Boston, abutting the MDC Murphy Skating Rink

  • Millenium Park, South Boston Although I’ve only been there in summer, I believe there are some big hills. 1205 VFW Pkwy, Boston
  • Sugar Bowl at Jamaica Pond Sledding with an inverted hill. Jamaicaway and Perkins Street, Boston
  • Sheepfold Meadow, in the Middlesex Fells This place is potentially great. Also, if you have a dog, he can run around without its leash on and have some winter fun too.Boston-ish
  • Larz Anderson Park23 Newton Street, Brookline, MA

Greater Boston Area

  • Spy Pond Park in Arlington Located on the North shore of Spy Pond off of Pond Lane
  • Robbins Farm Park (aka Skyline Park) too, in Arlington. 61 Eastern Ave, Arlington, MA
  • Oakley Country Club and Belmont Country Club, Belmont I’m told they have a great hill there, although they no longer allows sledders. Boo! Hiss! If you sneak in at night, you didn’t read it here. 410 Belmont St., Watertown, MA
  • Amory Park, Brookline Those who’ve been there love it, so there’s a big chance you’ll love it too. It’s a great park where children still run around and play with each other but it’s big enough to find your own spot there… 45 Amory St, Brookline
  • Hobart Street Playground, Hobart and Raleigh Streets, Allston/Brighton.
  • Corey Hill Outlook Summit Avenue, Brookline
  • Danehy Park, Cambridge I’ve been there, it’s a great one and where I usually go! Although it may hardly qualify as a bunny slope in regular ski area, it is the highest point in Cambridge and it is the ideal place to go either with your kids or to remember why it is so cool to be a kid while sliding down the snow covered hill. 99 Sherman Street, Cambridge. Closest T stop: Alewife.
  • Blue Hills, Canton This is probably going to be crowded on Sunday but it’s still worth trying. The great thing about the ‘Big Blue’ is that there’s a lot of other activities that you’ll definitely enjoy if you’re an outdoors enthusiast, while there’s also a pretty nice cabin where they serve hot beverages in case there’s someone in your party that isn’t too crazy about snow. Several people think this is the perfect place to learn how to ski and recommend the services of their qualified trainers. 4001 Washington St, Canton, MA
  • Glendale Park Elm St. and Ferry St., Everett, MA
  • Lexington High School has a pretty good hill right behind it. 251 Waltham St Lexington, MA
  • Fellsmere Park Fellsway East, Malden, MA
  • Seven Bumps/Fellsmere Pond Accessible on the Fellsway East, “Seven Bumps” an old favorite for sledding and snow tubing Malden, MA
  • Mt. Hood, Melrose Allegedly one of the best sledding areas in Massachusetts. 100 Sleyton Road, Melrose
  • Tufts University Sledding allowed on the President’s Lawn Davis Sq, College Avenue, Somerville, MA
  • Prospect Park Hill, Waltham It’s a bit of a hike up, but it’s definitely an awesome location! It has a wonderful spot on a cliff-top ridge that looks back across Waltham and Watertown over the whole Boston basin. 322 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, MA
  • Norfold Golf Club Although some people say it gets very crowded 166 East St, Westwood, MA
