How the 24 Hour Film Race Works
The 24 Hour Film Race 2012 is an international competition that challenges filmmakers everywhere to create short films (4 minutes max.) in just 24 hours. The 2012 competition is scheduled to kick off at 10PM EDT on Friday, May 18th when filmmakers are e-mailed a theme, prop, and action which must be included in the film. Filmmakers have until 9:59PM EDT on Saturday, May 19th to write, shoot, and edit an original short film and upload the finished film here on filmracing.com. There will be premiere screenings held in over 15 cities across North America and the top 24 films overall will be invited to a gala screening and awards ceremony in New York City in August where they will be competing for thousands in cash and prizes!
How to Participate
The competition is open to filmmakers everywhere, provided you are 18 years of age or older (without parental consent). Whether you are submitting a film from New York or New Zealand, you still have the same chance of being chosen as a top 24 film overall. And, if you happen to live in one of our participating cities, there will be premiere screenings at local theaters for the top films in your region!
