Hear first-hand about the battle of Gettysburg as described by Captain John Lonergan, who received the Medal of Honor for gallantry in the crucial fight. Portrayed in full uniform by William L. McKone, author of Lonergan’s biography Vermont’s Irish Rebel, the captain will tell about the exploits of his Irish company, Vermont’s only ethnic unit, as well as the two invasions of Canada by the Fenian Brotherhood.
Sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, the program at River Arts in Morrisville takes place at 1:30 PM on March 7, followed by a meeting of the Grand Army of the Republic Civil War Round Table discussion group at 3 PM.
